The Disney Dining Plan is a prepaid way to cover a set number of meals and snacks during an eligible Walt Disney World Resort stay.

Instead of paying for every eligible meal as you go, your vacation package provides a collection of meal and snack credits based on the plan you select and the number of nights in your stay.

That sounds simple, but the details can become confusing quickly. Quick-Service meals, Table-Service meals, Signature Dining, children’s menus, snack symbols, refillable mugs, reservations and gratuities all follow slightly different rules.

This guide explains the system in plain language so you can understand what you are purchasing before you begin choosing restaurants.

The Essentials

Key Takeaways

  • Dining Plans are available as part of select vacation packages that include a Disney Resorts Collection hotel stay.
  • The number of meals and snacks you receive is based on the number of nights in your package.
  • Credits may be used throughout the stay; they do not have to be redeemed on the day they are issued.
  • Unused credits expire at midnight on your checkout day.
  • Only participating dining locations accept the plans, and some experiences require two Table-Service meals.
  • Gratuities are generally not included.

What Is the Disney Dining Plan?

A Disney Dining Plan adds prepaid meals and snacks to an eligible Walt Disney Travel Company vacation package. It is intended to make meal budgeting more predictable and reduce the number of individual food purchases you need to make during your stay.

Dining Plans are tied to an eligible Disney Resort hotel package rather than sold as stand-alone products. Everyone in the travel party who is included in the package and is age three or older receives the plan’s allotted meals and snacks.

DDP Guide Tip

Think of the plan as a pool of prepaid meal entitlements for the entire trip, not a strict daily schedule. You can use more credits on one day and fewer on another.

Choose a Plan

Compare the 2026 Dining Plans

Walt Disney World offers two Dining Plan options for 2026.

Flexible and Casual

Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan

A better fit for guests who prefer counter-service meals, Mobile Order and fewer scheduled dining reservations.

Per person, per night:

  • 2 Quick-Service meals
  • 1 snack or eligible nonalcoholic drink
  • 1 Resort-refillable drink mug per stay

Best for: Park-heavy trips, flexible schedules and guests who do not want a Table-Service reservation every day.

Important: “Per night” refers to the number of nights in your eligible package, not the number of full park days.

Understanding Meal Credits

QS

Quick-Service Meals

Quick-Service restaurants generally use a counter-service format. You order at a register or through Mobile Order, collect your food and choose your own seating.

A standard Quick-Service meal generally includes one entrée and one eligible beverage. Guests age 21 and older may select an eligible alcoholic beverage where available.

Table-Service Meals

Table-Service restaurants seat guests and provide service from a server. Many of these restaurants accept advance dining reservations.

Breakfast typically includes an entrée and eligible beverage. Brunch, lunch and dinner generally include an entrée, dessert and eligible beverage. Buffets and family-style meals follow their own included-meal format.

Signature and Special Dining

Fine or Signature Dining, dinner shows and certain character experiences may require two Table-Service meals per person.

Always verify the required number of meals before booking. A restaurant’s participation and redemption rules can vary by meal period or dining experience.

Understanding Snack Credits

Snack credits may be used for eligible single-serving snacks and nonalcoholic drinks at participating locations. Common examples can include ice cream novelties, popcorn, fruit, bottled drinks, fountain drinks, coffee and single cups of soup.

Eligible items are generally identified by a Dining Plan snack symbol at the location or in the My Disney Experience app. Similar-looking items may not always have the same eligibility, so confirm the symbol before ordering.

Common eligible examples

  • Single-serving ice cream treats
  • A single popcorn serving
  • Whole fruit
  • Single-serve packaged snacks
  • Eligible bottled or fountain drinks
  • Coffee, tea, milk or juice
  • A single cup of soup

Common exclusions

  • Multi-serving packages
  • Souvenir containers
  • Merchandise and accessories
  • Items without the snack symbol
  • Full meals or meal combinations
  • Alcoholic drinks purchased alone

DDP Guide Tip

Do not assume the most expensive snack is automatically the best choice. Use credits on items your group genuinely wants, then compare the cash price to less expensive options you could easily pay for separately.

Included With Both Plans

Resort-Refillable Drink Mugs

Each eligible guest age three and older receives one Resort-refillable drink mug for the stay. The mug can be collected at the Quick-Service location at your Disney Resort hotel or at select Resort merchandise locations.

Refills are available at eligible self-service beverage stations at Disney Resorts Collection hotel Quick-Service locations. The mug is not a general refill pass for theme park restaurants.

During Your Stay

Using and Tracking Your Credits

Meal and snack credits are electronically linked to your reservation. You can redeem them at participating locations throughout your stay.

Unused credits roll over from day to day, which gives you flexibility to plan a day with more dining and another day with less. Any remaining credits expire at midnight on your checkout day.

1

Choose a participating location

Confirm that the restaurant accepts your specific Dining Plan and verify how many credits the experience uses.

2

Tell the Cast Member

Let the Cast Member know that you plan to use Dining Plan meals or snacks before completing payment.

3

Review the redemption

Confirm the number and type of meals or snacks being used before finalizing the transaction.

4

Track what remains

View your balance in the My Disney Experience app, check a dining receipt, or ask a Cast Member.

Plan Ahead

Dining Reservations

Having a Dining Plan does not automatically reserve a table. Advance dining reservations are handled separately through the Walt Disney World website or My Disney Experience app.

Reservations can be especially important for character meals, popular Table-Service restaurants, Signature Dining and dinner shows. Before confirming a reservation, verify that the experience accepts your Dining Plan and review how many meals it requires.

Remember: A reservation confirms your dining time. It does not guarantee that every item on the menu is included with the Dining Plan.

Budget Separately

Gratuities and Extra Costs

Gratuities are generally not included with the Disney Dining Plan. Plan to pay tips separately at applicable Table-Service restaurants.

You may also need to pay separately for menu items that are not included, additional food or beverages, souvenir containers, merchandise, taxes or other charges associated with a particular experience.

Some dining experiences handle gratuity differently, so review the official booking details before your visit.

Avoid These Problems

Common Dining Plan Mistakes

Assuming every restaurant participates

Participation varies, and some locations or experiences may not accept your plan.

Forgetting two-credit experiences

Signature Dining and certain special experiences may use two Table-Service meals per guest.

Confusing a reservation with payment

A dining reservation holds a time; your Dining Plan is applied when you dine.

Ignoring gratuities

Tips at most Table-Service restaurants must still be included in your vacation budget.

Leaving credits unused

Credits expire at midnight on checkout day and cannot be saved for a future trip.

Choosing solely by menu price

Financial value matters, but so do convenience, appetite, schedule and the dining experiences your group actually wants.
